From Our Tables to Yours

“Ordered the Hammered Metal serving tray for my wife’s birthday brunch. It’s heavier than I expected, which turned out to be a good thing since nothing slid around when I carried a full load of mimosas outside.”

What “Atelier” Actually Means Here

American Atelier makes tableware and serving pieces — platters, stands, bowls, glassware — for people who use them more than once a year. The name sounds fancier than the operation is: an atelier is just a workshop, and that’s what this is. We started because the middle of the market had gone empty. Everything was either thin, printed stuff that chipped in a season, or heirloom pricing on things you were too nervous to put in the dishwasher.

Our pieces sit in between, and they’re built to be handled. That means weight where weight matters, edges finished so they don’t catch, and glazes that survive a dishwasher cycle without going cloudy. We spec the same materials for a $38 cake stand that most brands reserve for their premium line, because the cheaper version fails in exactly the way you’d expect it to, and we’d rather not make it.

We’re also not going to tell you a serving bowl will change how you host. It won’t. What it will do is show up for the birthday, the Tuesday leftovers, the holiday you overcommitted to, and still look like itself three years in. Most of what we sell gets bought a second time — a different size, a gift, a replacement for something a nephew knocked off a counter. That’s the honest measure of whether this works.

Answers to Common Questions

How long does an order take to arrive?

Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days. Standard delivery usually takes 3–7 business days after dispatch, while expedited options arrive faster. A tracking link is emailed as soon as the package leaves the warehouse.

How should items be cleaned and maintained?

Hand washing with mild soap and warm water is recommended for most pieces, especially those with metallic accents, hand-painted details, or decorative finishes. Abrasive scrubbers, bleach-based cleaners, and prolonged soaking should be avoided. Drying with a soft cloth immediately after washing helps prevent water spots.

How can the right size or style be chosen?

Every product page lists exact dimensions, weight, and materials, which makes it easier to compare options before ordering. For sets meant to be combined, the description notes which collections share a matching finish. Customer photos and reviews often help clarify how a piece looks in a real setting.

What is the return policy?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery, provided items are unused and in their original packaging. Once a return is received and inspected, the refund is issued to the original payment method within 5–7 business days. Return shipping costs may apply unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.

What arrives if an item breaks during shipping?

Damage in transit is covered. Reporting the issue within 7 days of delivery, along with photos of the packaging and the item, allows a replacement to be sent at no cost. If a replacement is unavailable, a full refund is arranged instead.

What kind of coverage applies to manufacturing defects?

Manufacturing defects such as cracks, glaze flaws, or loose hardware are covered for one year from the purchase date. Coverage does not extend to normal wear, accidental breakage, or damage from improper cleaning. Proof of purchase is needed to process a claim.
